Vanuatu rowers return home after creating history in Hong Kong
Vanuatu rowers Rio Rii and Luigi Teilemb returned from Hong Kong yesterday after creating history at the World Rowing Coastal Championships in Hong Kong.
The duo were placed 11th in the World.
In a statement by Vanuatu Rowing Association on Facebook yesterday stated; “The Vanuatu Rowing Association is very proud of both Rio and Luigi’s efforts and happy to see the duo making history for Vanuatu, for being the first crew to make it through to an A Final in a World Rowing event.”
“An amazing effort from the pair and The A Final was a tough race for the pair, with Rio and Luigi crashing into two other boats at the turning point making them come to a complete stop.
“However they took the motto “never give up” to heart and rowed hard to the finish to claim 11th place.”
